अमेरिका और ईरान के बीच बढ़ते तनाव के बीच एक बड़ा घटनाक्रम सामने आया है. होरमुज़ जलडमरूमध्य में भारतीय नाविकों वाले एक व्यापारिक जहाज पर हमला किया गया. जिस जहाज को निशाना बनाया गया उसका नाम जीएफएस गैलेक्सी (GFS Galaxy) बताया जा रहा है. यह साइप्रस के झंडे के तहत संचालित एक कार्गो जहाज है, जो कंटेनरों के जरिए माल ढुलाई का काम करता है. जानकारी के अनुसार, जहाज में 11 भारतीय क्रू सदस्य सवार थे. यह जहाज ओमान के सोहार बंदरगाह से रवाना हुआ था और इसे संयुक्त अरब अमीरात (UAE) के जेबेल अली पोर्ट पहुंचना था. हालांकि, जब जहाज होरमुज़ जलडमरूमध्य से गुजर रहा था, तभी उस पर हमला हुआ. अमेरिका का दावा है कि इस व्यापारिक जहाज को ईरान की इस्लामिक रिवोल्यूशनरी गार्ड कॉर्प्स (IRGC) ने निशाना बनाया. हमले के कारण जहाज में आग लग गई और उसके इंजन को भारी नुकसान पहुंचा. घटना के बाद 11 में से 10 भारतीयों को सुरक्षित बचा लिया गया, जबकि एक भारतीय क्रू सदस्य अभी भी लापता बताया जा रहा है. उसकी तलाश और बचाव अभियान जारी है.
