प्रतीक यादव की अंतिम यात्रा की जो तस्वीरें सामने आईं, वो बेहद भावुक करने वाली थीं. परिवार के साथ-साथ बड़ी संख्या में समर्थक अंतिम दर्शन के लिए पहुंचे. पत्नी अपर्णा यादव के लिए यह पल सबसे कठिन था, क्योंकि उन्होंने अपने जीवनसाथी को हमेशा के लिए खो दिया. उनके दोनों मासूम बेटियां भी इस दुखद घड़ी में मौजूद थीं. अंतिम यात्रा में मुलायम परिवार एक साथ नजर आया. अखिलेश यादव, शिवपाल यादव, धर्मेंद्र यादव समेत तमाम नेता बैकुंठ धाम पहुंचे, जहां अंतिम संस्कार किया गया. सबसे चौंकाने वाली बात ये रही कि प्रतीक यादव को मुखाग्नि उनके ससुर अरविंद सिंह बिष्ट ने दी.

बताया गया कि करीब 13 दिन पहले प्रतीक यादव को पहली बार दिल का दौरा पड़ा था. उस वक्त वे फ्लाइट से उतरकर लखनऊ एयरपोर्ट पहुंचे ही थे कि अचानक उन्हें सीने में तेज दर्द हुआ और चक्कर आने लगा. उन्हें तुरंत अस्पताल ले जाया गया, जहां समय रहते इलाज मिलने से उनकी जान बच गई.
डॉक्टरों के मुताबिक, पहली बार आया हार्ट अटैक हल्का (माइल्ड) था और समय पर इलाज सबसे बड़ी वजह बनी कि वे बच पाए. लेकिन 13 मई को आए दूसरे दिल के दौरे में उन्हें बचाया नहीं जा सका. जब अस्पताल ले जाया गया, तब तक उनकी सांसें थम चुकी थीं.
सूत्रों की मानें तो प्रतीक यादव खून को पतला रखने वाली दवाएं भी ले रहे थे और हाल ही में उनके पैर में थक्का जमने के कारण सर्जरी भी हुई थी. इस बीमारी में अचानक गिरना, चक्कर आना और सांस फूलना जैसे लक्षण होते हैं, जिन्हें अक्सर लोग नजरअंदाज कर देते हैं.
