सिक्किम में एक सुरंग में खुदाई के दौरान दर्दनाक हादसा हुआ है, जिसमें 10 लोगों की मौत हो गई है. ये सुरंग एनएचपीसी की बताई जा रही है. ऐसा बताया जा रहा है कि सुरंग में खुदाई के दौरान मीथेन गैस के कारण ये हादसा हुआ है. विस्फोट इतना तेज था कि मौके पर ही अफरा-तफरी मच गई. प्रशासन ने पूरे इलाके को सील कर जांच शुरू कर दी है. शुरुआती जांच में सामने आया है कि खुदाई के दौरान सुरक्षा मानकों का पालन नहीं किया गया था और गैस रिसाव का पता नहीं चल पाया.
