2026 Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z vs Dominar 400 | Same Engine, Different Characters!

Bajaj Auto has given its flagship single-cylinder motorcycles a major update, but not in the way you might expect. The 2026 Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z and Dominar 400 now feature a revised sub-350cc engine configuration that benefits from lower taxation, resulting in a significant price reduction of nearly ₹30,000.

But does the smaller displacement change the riding experience?

In this detailed comparison, we ride both motorcycles to find out how Bajaj has differentiated two bikes that share the same liquid-cooled engine, identical power outputs of 40.6 PS and 33 Nm, and a six-speed gearbox.

The Pulsar NS400Z continues to focus on agility and urban performance, thanks to its shorter wheelbase, larger rear sprocket, lighter flywheel and revised engine internals. The result is a motorcycle that feels more responsive, refined and engaging in city conditions.

The Dominar 400, on the other hand, stays true to its touring roots. With relaxed ergonomics, better wind protection and highway-friendly gearing, it remains the motorcycle for long-distance riders who prioritise comfort and stability.

We also discuss whether Bajaj should have used this opportunity to improve components such as brakes, tyres and overall weight management, while evaluating the real-world impact of the reduced engine capacity.

Is the Pulsar NS400Z now the better all-rounder? Does the Dominar 400 still make sense as a touring motorcycle? Watch our comprehensive review to find out.
