कोलकाता एयरपोर्ट की जमीन पर मौजूद 136 साल पुरानी बांकरा मस्जिद में एंट्री बैन कर दी गई है. यहां नमाज पढ़ने पर भी रोक लगा दी गई है. एयरपोर्ट पर रनवे विस्तार के लिए NSCBI ने शिफ्टिंग की प्रक्रिया शुरू की है. इस कारण मस्जिद में प्रवेश पर रोक लगाई गई है. 136 साल पुरानी गौरीपुर जामा मस्जिद को 'बांकरा मस्जिद' के नाम से भी जाना जाता है. यह मस्जिद एयरपोर्ट के अंदर ही स्थित है. लंबे समय से मस्जिद को दूसरी जगह ले जाने की बात चल रही है. अब शुभेंदु सरकार में यह प्रक्रिया शुरू हुई है. कोलकाता एयरपोर्ट पर मौजूद बांकरा मस्जिद के बारे में राज्य मंत्री दिलीप घोष ने कहा, 'मस्जिद जिस जगह पर थी, वहां उसके होने का कोई औचित्य नहीं था. इसे जानबूझकर रनवे एरिया में रहने दिया गया था. अब वहां नमाज़ भी बंद कर दी गई है. मुझे उम्मीद है कि वे उस जगह को खाली कर देंगे ताकि रनवे के विस्तार का काम आसानी से आगे बढ़ सके."

जानकारी के मुताबिक, वीणा मानवी जैसे ही अपना पर्चा भरकर समाहरणालय से बाहर निकलीं, पटना पुलिस ने उन्हें गिरफ्तार कर लिया. पुलिस सूत्रों का कहना है कि यह कार्रवाई धोखाधड़ी (धारा 420) के एक पुराने मामले में की गई है. फिलहाल उन्हें गांधी मैदान थाने में रखा गया है. अपनी उम्मीदवार की गिरफ्तारी पर तेज प्रताप यादव बुरी तरह भड़क गए हैं. उन्होंने इसे सत्ता पक्ष और विरोधियों की सोची-समझी साजिश करार दिया है. तेज प्रताप ने तीखे अंदाज में कहा, "इतने दिनों से वह प्रचार कर रही थीं तब पुलिस कहां थी? नॉमिनेशन के दिन ही गिरफ्तारी क्यों? एक महिला के साथ अन्याय हो रहा है, अब बिहार में 'सुदर्शन चक्र' चलेगा."
