तृणमूल कांग्रेस सांसद प्रकाश चिक बराइक ने भी राज्यसभा से इस्तीफा दे दिया है. सुखेंदु शेखर राय और सुष्मिता देव के बाद बारिक ने ममता बनर्जी को झटका दिया है. तृणमूल कांग्रेस के 19 लोकसभा सांसदो ने पहले ही बगावत का झंडा बुलंद कर रखा है और अलग गुट के तौर पर मान्यता के लिए स्पीकर को पत्र लिखा है. ममता बनर्जी की पार्टी के राज्यसभा में 10 सांसद हैं. जबकि लोकसभा में 28 सांसद हैं. बंगाल विधानसभा चुनाव में हार के बाद ममता बनर्जी अपनी पार्टी के सांसदों और विधायकों को एकजुट रखने में नाकाम रही हैं. ममता बनर्जी की पार्टी से विधानसभा में 80 विधायक जीते थे, जिनमें से 58 ने अलग गुट बना लिया है और बागी नेता ऋतब्रत बनर्जी को अपना नेता मान लिया है.
